Roadworthy Rescues
Three seasons of show running, directing, shooting, and editing.
This show started as an idea.
Motor Trend wanted to make a series with derek bieri, aka vice grip garage. we went back and forth with pitch decks and series concepts but ultimately each car gave us its own story.
Derek bieri
Is an absolute beast of a mechanic. We would simply pick a car, buy every part we could think of, give him an assortment of tools, and roll cameras. Any plan we made before hand seemed to go out the window as each car had it’s own batch of surprises waiting to derail the entire show. But Derek remained unfazed by it all and never met a project he couldn’t get on the road.
Roadworthy Rescues Crew: Christine Dang, Skyler Reichow, Brad Bass, Michelle Turzcyn, Derek Bieri, Sean Winnograd, Matthew Thompson, Sandon Voelker
This show was the result of the hard work from a dedicated team of industry professionals. Everyone went above and beyond their titles to ensure each episode reached its conclusion no matter what.
Sean Winnograd
Our Field Producer Sean would travel across the country in search of forgotten classic cars. What the series doesn’t show are all the cars that didn’t make the cut. Once we locked in a vehicle he would order every part he could think of in our budget that might be needed then during production made frequent trips to O’reilly Auto Parts and any other necessary parts or tool shop for items needed to complete the project.
Matthew Thompson
Camera operator Swiss army knife Matthew is an expert at building out and operating specialty camera rigs. The primary rig being our camera car rig that could be packed into a pelican case and deployed onto any vehicle in under 30 minutes. Matthew would operate the camera from a monitor and controls in the backseat. More than capable of filming in any condition Matthew was also often seen putting his mechanical abilities to work on the picture car.
BRad bass
Sound Mixer with his ears always on, Brad built out several bespoke audio devices used to capture in-car audio as well as transmit to the camera car. Allowing us to always have a live audio feed from Derek. Brad also built out bespoke pelican both for car mounted equipment as well as charging bases. Not to mention he was always game to grab a camera when we needed an extra angle.
Michelle Turczyn
Show Producer that always kept us on time and under budget. Which is no easy task considering Derek Bieri’s ridiculous schedule and the builds we were trying to accomplish in short order and rapid succession. She’s also the one responsible for assembling our amazing team.
Christine dang
Our production coordinator Christine always ensured we had a place to stay and food to eat. It sounds pretty simple but given the fact that we were often in remote areas and sometimes traveling cross-country meant she was constantly hitting a moving target. She too would never hesitate to lend a hand when needed.
Skyler reichow
Our Production Assistant, we often referred to Skyler as the Muscle. Always eager to help in any way possible Skyler proved to be a critical component to our team.
sandon voelker
Show Runner, Director, Camera Operator, and editor of EP01. Roadworthy Rescues has been my largest production responsibility to date and I’ve certainly learned a lot over the last three years of production and post-production. Through all of the challenges I’ve learned to keep a level head, stay organized, and choose a solid team. We always came back with the footage and delivered 32 episodes of original entertaining automotive content.
